Aloha mai, my name is L. P. Kupaelani Akeo, High School Counselor for the Business and Leadership Academy, Counselor for the Students in grade 10(A-K) and Community Service Coordinator.

The Student Support Services Centers goals for our students are to provide positive preventative services to assist our youth to become good and industrious young men and women.

Counseling program services include:
• Academic Advising
• Personal Counseling
• Career Exploration / Guidance

It is also our goal to work with students, their parents, the teachers and faculty collectively to build a solid foundation so our students may have a positive and enjoyable high school experience, preparing them for their post secondary plans and to help them to become leaders of tomorrow and good citizens in their communities.

Who am I?
I was born and raised in Pearl City on the Island of Oahu.
Graduated from The Kamehameha Schools, Kapalama Campus (1982).
BS Psychology – Brigham Young University, Provo Utah (1988)
MS Counseling Psychology – Chaminade University of Honolulu (1996)

Times Available:
I am available for students during the regular school hours and by appointment before and after school. Due to my full schedule, I strongly encourage parents to call and schedule an appointment. However, I do understand that stopping by the office occasionally may be necessary to accommodate your needs.

3 Academy Endorsement credits

*Student Athletes who anticipate sports participation on the Collegiate level on either the Division I or Division II will need to register with the NCAA Clearinghouse, ASAP. Registration and information can be found on www.ncaaclearinghouse.net

Division I core course requirements:

4 years English

2 years Math (Alg. or higher)

2 years Natural or Physical Science (one lab)

1 year additional English/Math/Science

2 years Social Sciences

3 years additional core courses (foreign Lang., religion)

2.0 GPA in 13 core courses and *SAT or ACT score

*SAT/ACT sliding scale; higher your core GPA, lower your SAT/ACT score. (2.5 core GPA, 68 ACT or 820 SAT)

(2.0 core GPA, 86 ACT or 1010 SAT)

Division II Core requirements:

3 years English

2 years Math (Alg. or higher)

2 years Natural or Physical Science

2 years additional English/Math/Science

2 years Social Science

3 years additional core courses (2 years of foreign Lang.)

2.0 GPA in 13 core courses and 68 on ACT or 820 on SAT

Division III

No academic eligibility requirements

No Athletic Scholarships

NAIA

Student/Athlete need two of the following:

1) ACT score of 18 or SAT of 860, 2) GPA of 2.0

3) graduate in the top half of his/her class

*Can award full or partial Athletic Scholarships

NJCAA

No academic eligibility requirements

Division I and II can offer full or partial scholarships
