Pool Safety
Safety is a major issue for the pool. One mistake
and someone could drown. Aquatics Supervisor George McElravy
has a set list of school and state guidelines for users to
follow that make the pool a fun and relaxing place.
"Swim, play and dive with safety and courtesy in mind.
Behavior that endangers the health and safety of self or others
will not be tolerated. Lifeguards are here to protect lives
and assist with water safety classes. Please follow the lifeguard’s
instructions. Failure to follow the lifeguard’s instructions
could lead to a loss of swimming time." - George McElravy
Four Specific Safety Rules
Only feet first entries are permitted from 4 feet to 12
feet of water. This means jumping, feet first, is permitted.
No Diving from 4 feet to 12 feet. Diving is permitted only
in the deepest part of the pool, beyond the 12 foot markers.
Walk please.
Do not run. The deck is designed to stay cool, even on hot
days. The deck material is also much more slippery than cement.
Do not run.
