by seeking idle pleasure but by living up to one's beliefs
and caring for the welfare of others.)

Hawaiian Proverbs & Poetical Sayings

Aloha Mai!
My Advisory ‘Ohana includes the following 6th grade students--
they're "Quadruple A":  An Absolutely Awesome Advisory
!

Upon entering Advisory, each student offers me a warm smile coupled with a firm, businesslike handshake and good eye contact!  Next, students listen to morning announcements and learn the Hawaiian Value of the Month.  During Advisory, each student takes a turn at sharing devotion by reading from our Teenage Book of Devotions and Bible.  Lastly, we gather in a circle and close with a pule (prayer), clasping hands, which sets the foundation for positive thoughts and learning--last one into the classroom begins pule, and everyone has the opportunity to add to the prayer circle when receiving a squeeze of their left hand.  We thank our Heavenly Father daily for our countless blessings, and we especially give thanks to Ke Ali‘i Bernice Pauahi Bishop for her generous legacy which allows us the opportunity to be a part of the Kamehameha Schools Maui ‘Ohana.
‘Ämene (Amen)!

As Advisor, my goal is to help each student succeed in meeting our Kamehameha Schools Maui Campus expectations.  My role is to support each student in every possible way, always to be there if they need someone to confide in.  In doing so,  I try to model and encourage the practice of our Hawaiian Values.
