Grade: 12 Subject: Modern World History
Modern World History will cover 20th century history until current
event of our world.
Course Goals and Objectives: By the end if the semester, the
student will:
1) have a knowledge of, develop a deep appreciation and respect
for, the world and its history.
2) Have learned how to use various resource materials for future
research,
3) will have developed the ability to apply this appreciation
and respect within the class to the outside world, and
4) will exemplify the Hawaiian and Christian values of the Kamehameha
Schools.
Grading: Points will be accumulated during the course for final
grades. All assignments will be given point values with quizzes,
tests, essays, and projects having a higher value than class
and homework. Points will also be given for weekly current-event
papers. Each student will be required to keep an organized Modern
World History notebook (binder). Notebooks will be checked periodically
through out the semester and also receive a point value. Notebook
checks will be planned. Grades will be based on the grading
scale as follows:
A = 90-100%
B = 80-89%
C = 70-79%
D = 60-69%
F = 59% and below
Attendance: Attendance is important as much of the reading
and discussion will be done in class. The guidelines have been
set and will be followed as mentioned in the student/parent
hand book. A Student who is tardy will be warned upon their
first offense; all subsequent offenses will result in detention.
Class Rules: All rules that have been set and listed in the
student/parent handbook will be followed. They will also:
1) show respect to the teachers, adults, peers, and themselves,
2) come to class prepared and promptly
3) be expected to participate in class, and
4) behave in a manner expected as students of the Kamehameha
Schools.
Laptop Rules: There is to be no inappropriate use of the laptop.
Laptops are not to be used in class unless authorized by the
teacher as part of class. Should there be any misconduct, your
laptop will be taken away, and a parent will be required to
retrieve taken laptops.
