Grade: 12 Subject: Senior Seminar

Senior Seminar is set up to help students with preparation for post high school plans, for guidance with working on their Senior Project (Höÿike Nui), life skills and reviews of skills, i.e. research and Big 6)

Senior Seminar is NOT a study hall. There is a curriculum to follow.

Objectives: Getting students to think about after high school.
Working on Senior projects
Life skills
Review of skills

Also, Seminar will be a place to practice for Founder’s day and Song Fest, prep for final exams, and preparing for the Career fair in January.

Senior Seminar will also work on vocabulary building. Each quarter the student will receive 50 vocabulary words. These are the most common words found in the SAT. Near the end of each quarter, there will be a 100 pt. test that everyone needs to take. The dates are already se and you will know about these tests in advance.

Requirements: All students must have one binder for this class. In addition to the binder, each student must keep a folder or a smaller binder in class for the project and P.B.L. This will also have their portfolio documents (i.e. college essays and letters of recommendations).

This class needs to treated as any other class. You must come to class ready to participate and eager to learn. Prompt arrival is a must. You will receive a warning for the first tardy, every other subsequent tardy will result in detention.

Laptop Rules: There is to be no inappropriate use of the laptop. Laptops are not to be used in class unless authorized by the teacher as part of class. Should there be any misconduct, you laptop will be taken away, and a parent will be required to retrieve taken laptops.
