Earth
Science
From
geology to oceanography, astronomy to paleontology, students
will learn about past, present, and what the future holds
for planet Earth. The contents of this Earth Science course
will cover earth materials, the changing surface of the earth
and its internal processes. The atmosphere, its varied weather
patterns and climates along with a unit covering oceanography
and astronomy will also be covered.
At
the beginning of the first term the main focus of class emphasized
the Earth's changes as a unit on weathering and erosion. During
the upcoming weeks, volcanoes and earthquakes will become
the focal point as a continuation.
The
instructor plans to take a break from Earth Science as a week-long
lesson on Food Science is planned. This lesson will include
several labs and activities that will introduce the students
to the dangers of bacteria that can be in the food that we
eat.
The
term will thus conclude with the study of oceanography. Some
of the resources will be taken from the "Project Wild"
curriculum.
