Course Description:
During this seminar class, you will have your Guidance class, Christian Education, Educational technology unit, and Standardized testing. The content that will be covered includes but is not limited to:
1. Study skills – note taking, time management, test taking, study habits, etc.
2. Vocabulary development.
3. Basic school skills – i.e. research/Big 6, citing sources, etc.
4. P.B.L. preparation.
This class is really designed to help you achieve success this Freshman Year.
Grading:
The grading policy is very simple: total points you have earned divided by total possible points. You literally earn the grade you deserve. There is no late work allowed. However, if there are any extraordinary circumstances, please come in before class begins to discuss them with me.
Supplies
For starters, you will need an organized 2 inch binder (1 ½ is okay) which includes 1) a pack of lined index cards, 2) at least 5 index dividers, 3) folder paper, 4) a pouch to hold pens/pencils/index cards, as well as 5) some pens and pencils. There will be graded binder checks throughout the year. In addition to your binder, you will also need to have your planner and laptop at each class meeting.
Behavior/Rules
1. You need to follow all K.S.M. rules as outlined in the handbook.
2. Please respect everyone and everything in this room and school.
3. You may bring a drink to class, but please make sure that it has a cap on it.
4. No food or gum is allowed.
5. Please ask before printing. No more than 5 pages at a time per day.
6. Please do not be tardy to class.
Here are the consequences:
1. 1st time a warning.
2. 2nd time I will put the incident on your SASI file as a warning.
3. 3rd time you will receive 1 hr. Sat. detention and a phone call home.
4. 4th time you will receive 2 hrs. of Sat. detention and a phone call home.
5. 5th time, I will call for a parent conference.
