Elementary Principal
Paul
Prevenas is Maui’s "new kid" on the block, relocating
to the island from Brookings, Oregon, to serve as Maui Campus Elementary
School Principal.
While in Brookings, Paul
served as Superintendent to the Brookings-Harbor School District, a
faculty of 220 employees serving 1,800 students at four school sites.
In his seven years of service in Brookings, Paul secured and managed
a $14 million annual budget used to renovate and improve school facilities.
Other achievements included
initiating new summer school and after-school programs, expanding public
information and community outreach programs, and directing a comprehensive
school improvement plan that emphasized instructional technology at
all grade levels. Paul has been a principal, summer school director,
a 5th and 3rd grade classroom teacher, lobbyist and legislative analyst.
As a graduate assistant in 1986, Paul worked as a research assistant
and textbook writer with the University of Hawai‘i Laboratory
School in Honolulu.
Paul holds a doctoral degree
in educational administration from the University of Wisconsin at Madison,
a master’s of science degree in elementary education and undergraduate
degree in political science from Northern Illinois University.
