Aloha, Class of 2017 ÿOhana,
Our keiki are recipients of a wonderful Kamehameha Schools
Maui education through the selflessness and generosity of Ke
Aliÿi Pauahi. To show our gratitude to our beloved Princess,
we humbly ask for your kökua in providing your time and
energy to participate in the preparation and running of the
4th Annual Kamehameha Schools Maui Hoÿolauleÿa. The
goal of the event is to provide a quality family event that
will raise funds for student enrichment activities that are
not funded by Kamehameha Schools Maui.
The Ho’olaule’a is a PTSO sponsored event, and
we request Gr. 3 parents’ kökua in numerous ways,
such as:
-Food Donations: Brown sugar, all-purpose flour, sugar, forks,
and rice.
Donation Drive dates and locations to be announced.
*Food Preparation: The next class will be on February 7, 2008.
(Requesting one in March, and an after-school for students 14
years and older, and staff in early April)
**Help on the day of the event in the kitchen or the serving
of food
To participate in food prep* or handling**, you and your child
(at least 14 years or older) must be certified by taking a Food
Handling class at Kamehameha Schools. The current Food Certification
Policy requires individuals be food certified once during the
student’s enrollment in elementary, once in Middle School
and once in High School. If you took the class AFTER JAN. 2006,
when your child was in Elementary School, then you do not need
to update your Food Handling Certification until your child
enters Grade 6.
Food Certification Class: The next class will be held on February
7, 2008. The class is limited to 40. Register with Lokelani
Patrick at 572-3203, kapatric@ksbe.edu.
Our class is in charge of the Caesar Salad food booth, however
when signing up for a shift, you will be helping where help
is needed and you may not be working with our class. We will
assign people to various jobs as needed on the day of the Hoÿolaulea.
Remember, we are working together as a Kamehameha Schools ÿOhana
to make this event successful for all.
MANDATORY DRESS ATTIRE FOR FOOD PREP AND HOÿOLAULEA: Long
hair must be up, long pants, covered shoes, and t-shirts (no
tank tops) Please adhere to this Dress Code. We can't afford
to send help home.
Our goal for the class of 2017 is 99.99% participation. If
you haven’t already signed up, please contact me phone
or by email before January 31, 2008. The list of participants
will be shared in February 2008, as we gear up for the event.
We want to hear from you!
Me Ka ÿOia,
(Sincerely)
Kelly Hughes
